Amazon.com Product Description The Samsung SPH-m620, affectionately dubbed the "UpStage," is so unique, you have to see it (and hear it) to believe it. On one side, it's a slim, stylish Samsung phone with stereo Bluetooth wireless technology, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. On the other side, it's a slim, stylish Samsung music player with touch-sensitive media controls and a stereo speaker. Other great features include a memory card slot, advanced voice control with dictation capabilities, EV-DO high-speed data, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. With the ability to store up to 2000 songs, the m620 is the perfect choice for tech-connected power users and music lovers who need the speed of the Power Vision Network to access information while on the go.
This amazing two-faced phone does double duty. See it in 3D (requires Flash). | Design The extremely unique m620 features a candy bar form factor with two faces. One side offers the typical look and feel of a modern looking MP3 player, and includes advanced music and media control keys, as well as a large 2.1-inch full color 176 x 220 display--perfect for watching optional Sprint TV media. The "phone side" sports a massive secondary screen that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.3-megapixel camera lens is housed directly above this display. Up and down buttons for volume control are placed on the left side, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad, also located on the "phone side". The phone includes 53 MB of internal memory--plenty of memory for running the music player and other advanced applications--and micro SD cards can supplement the phone's memory with its built-in memory card slot. And because the m620 has an internal antenna, there's nothing to snag or break off. Charging and USB data cable connectivity are available on the phone's bottom edge. Samsung was even nice enough to throw in support for PictBridge direct-to-printer printing (via USB). Calling Features The m620's internal phone book can hold up to 500 contacts, and the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures and ringtones to your most common callers. The phone ships with built-in polyphonic ringtones, but for those times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and advanced voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates easy. Simply say the name or number of the person you want to call and the number is dialed automatically without using the keypad. No prior voice training is needed. Lastly, because the m620 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.
Impressively slim and stylish. | Messaging, Internet, and Tools The m620 is a messaging powerhouse, and comes with support for Sprint's PCS picture and video mail services. You can shoot high quality pictures and video clips with sound and instantly send them to email addresses and other Sprint PCS phones that are compatible with picture and video mail services. Or, upload them to the Sprint PCS pictures Web site to create albums. You can also use the m620 to send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. T9, a predictive text entry system, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. The real power of the m620 comes alive with Sprint's PCS Power Vision services. Relying on Sprint's new EV-DO high speed data network, Power Vision allows you to enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, and more (Sprint Power Vision charges apply). You can also stream or download music to your phone with Sprint's Music Store service. Download digital tracks instantly to your phone. Choose from hundreds of thousands of full-length songs from virtually every genre. Select songs directly from the phone and listen to them wherever you go. Even download them to your PC. With a USB connection, the m620 can also be used as a mass storage device. And last but not least, personalized news and information tickers, and downloadable screen savers and ringtones are also available through the Sprint Power Vision service. The m620 is packed with useful tools to make your life more productive and fun. A message dictation system lets you speak your SMS text messages into the phone, while a voice memo recorder lets you record spoken voice notes. The phone also includes an alarm clock that can be set one time or daily, a calendar with a to-do list and a scheduler, a calculator, a stopwatch, and a world clock. Imaging and Entertainment As mentioned, the m620 features a powerful 1.3-megapixel camera that can be used to capture and send video and still images. The m620's built-in media player lets you see and hear streaming and stored media. The m620 supports MP3, AAC, and AAC+ audio files. And where will you put all those pictures, videos, and songs? Straight onto the phone's 50 MB of mass storage, or on memory cards. The phone takes gaming to the next level, too, with support for advanced Java-based games. The m620 is also Sprint Music Store Enabled. That means you can easily download stereo-quality tracks instantly to the phone. Choose songs from thousands of artists in virtually every genre, and listen wherever you go (additional Sprint charges apply). The m620 sports an airplane mode feature, as well, which allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of the phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight. Vital Statistics The Samsung SPH-m620 weighs 3.25 ounces and measures 3.98 x 2.05 x 0.49 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.50 hours of digital talk time. It runs on the CDMA 850/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

I love it! July 23, 2007 Juanita Rocha I love the upstage, I've had it for a few months now & I just love it. I get great reception & I just fell in love with the way the songs that I down load sound, & yes I do admit that it sometimes get's on my nerves because it's a bit on the sensitive side but I've learned to over look that, but besides that it's a great little phone.
Upstage isn't an upset! January 9, 2008 Chai Lee This phone isn't a business type phone. It's your regular everyday phone you can easily grab and go. Change is GOOD! =D Expressing some of my opinions on the phone. 1. I liked the new feel of a two sided phone. It's very light weight and it almost feels like a iPod Nano. 2. The features you have aren't as exciting as other phones, but the fact that it is based on a "small" MP3 type phone is different. 3. The case that has everyone worrying about! It doesn't annoy me when you have to flip side to side to enter text. Once you get use to it, it's very simple. 4. Some bad things about this phone is that: - The text screen is kinda small, but you'll pick it up easily. - The speakers for the MP3 should be made a bit louder. Since it is a MP3 phone. - 1.3 Megapixel camera? Is too old, it should've been upgraded. 5. Light weight, very compact, easy grab and go, battery life extension pack, music in the palm of your hand. What else can you not want?
Very good mobile phone September 26, 2008 F. Reaper (Seattle, WA USA) I can say with confidence that this was a very good phone to use. I must say that I got tons negative Intel before I bought mine. I used it for the 2 year contract, then upgraded to the Instinct. The reception is better than my old SAM A900 the battery is twice as much (while in the wallet case) mp3 functioned well, not as good as my ipod, but then again this is first and foremost a mobile phone. I think it's sad that a lot of people give this phone's mp3 player flak. It isn't fair to compare it with a dedicated mp3 player. The camera does about as well as any 1.3 meg camera, there again compared with other 1.3 cell cams NOT a dedicated Camera. The call clarity was good, and i rarely had any dropped calls. Texting with this phone was a breeze, i especially liked the word dictionary function. Just about the only problem I ever had with this phone was the ascending ringer. But I understood the purpose.
Upstage True Fact Review July 27, 2007 Phone User 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
The Upstage is a beautiful phone and extremly different. I for one love it. The Good sides of having it is that it doesnt take too long to load the pages its fairly short. Its very cool looking and i have had people come up to me (whom i dont know) and ask questions about it and tell me that it is all that. Some negative feedback is that the phone side lcd screen is fairly small. but everything that u do on that side of the phone you can do on the larger lcd screen which is the other side except texting and calling out to people. Another thing is that when loading your music on the player of your phone it may take a while. in the begining i had almost 200 songs, and it took a very long time to load i would say half an hour.so i cut back and now have 47 songs and that takes about a good 4 mins. But the quality of the music is excellent. (Yes you can receive calls but it is not possible to make outgoing calls while listening to songs)Sprint itself has great music it compresses it so well that you can hold up to about 1000 songs, but you would have to buy them all on the sprint music store to hold that many. Last but not least The Larger Lcd side of the phone is very touch sensitive but you can change the sensitivity on the phone from 1-5. 5 being the hardest. overall The upstage is very unique and i would deffinitly recommend this phone becuase it had pretty much everything, TV, Music, On Demend, and camera (1.3) that works well for a phone. Thank You
If You Can Handle An iPod You Can Handle An Upstage.. September 25, 2007 Chamillitary Girl (Houston!!) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have had my Upstage for about four months.. When I first received my Upstage, it looked sorta weird.. I wasn't really use to that sort of phone.. I had trouble trying to get to the menu, flip to the other side, and etc.. I'm not trying to say that there was problems with the phone. It is just that it takes a while to get use to.. But as the months went by, I started to fall in love with my Upstage.. I would always make sure I have my Upstage with me..lol.. Anyway, this phone is targeted really for the younger kids.. If you are a business type of person, this phone isn't for you.. This phone is like an iPod.. just with a phone on the back.. So if you can handle an iPod, You Can Handle an Upstage.. Remember to always keep that phone in the extended battery case!!! Because if you drop that phone and if it is not in its case, you better have insurance.. Because that big screen can get scratched and cracked if you drop it.. Also, a lot of people seem to complain about the Upstage being frozen and etc, but it never seem to happen to my phone.. But that ususally happens if you sweat in the phone.. Like if you are sweaty and you are talking on the phone, sooner or later, your phone will freeze sometimes and you have to push the buttons hard or for a long time to get your phone to respond. Also, when I said "If You Can Handle An Upstage, You Can Handle An iPod..", I wasn't joking. On the mp3 player side (the side with the big screen), You have to be able use the touch keypad.. You can't use it like the iPod, by using the circular movements.. Don't worry though, the phone has a tutorial, installed into the phone.. I think it is under Tools.. Anyway, on the side, there is a "Flip" button, that button is for you to flip between both sides(mp3 side and phone side).. Unfortunately, you can't use both at the same time unless you want to send a text message while playing music.. On the phone side(the side with the smaller screen), You can only have a few menu items.. Like Add New Entry, Send Text Message, and etc.. *Like I said before keep the phone inside the case! If you leave in the case, that phone can last 4 days! But without the case, I think it can last 2 at most.. To conclude my review for the Upstage, it is a great phone! But, Samsung made this phone for younger kids.. That is what it is targeted to.. But If You Can Handle An iPod, You Can Handle An Upstage..
