Great Tool But Be Careful Opening the Blade Arm October 3, 2008 P. Koback (Gaithersburg, MD United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
SAVE THE THUMBS. I love my Gerber Artifact tool, but there's one issue. The blade arm is difficult to swing out from its safety position for use. After weeks of daily use, I learned the hard way and sliced my thumb to the bone trying to open it. As I type this, my thumb is hovering unused and bandaged over the keyboard. Since then, I think I've figured out a safe way to open the blade arm and I wanted to share it to try to spare the thumbs of others -- use a coin to pry the blade arm out from its safety position. A quarter fits perfectly in the slot near the key chain loop on the tool. Stay safe.
Great tool for the money October 13, 2008 N. Berry (USA) This is a very handy keychain tool and a great value for the money. I was a bit concerned about the xacto blade, but the locking mechanism seems to keep it very secure. It packs a lot of useful things into a small tool.
The blade is so tight I fear for my life October 21, 2008 S. Laker 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought myself one of these things to have a single, compact tool for a lot of common needs. I've only had it a couple days, but I've already used it as a screwdriver, a box opener, a pry tool and yes, to open a bottle. The blade, though, is really, really sharp and really, really difficult to move in either of its locked positions. I haven't cut myself yet, but knowing what a pain it is to open and close the blade makes me more than a little shy to actually use that part of the tool.
Decent pry tool August 20, 2008 D. Duck (Chicago, IL USA) This is a decent key chain tool. It has 2 flat head screwdrivers, 1 Philips head screwdriver, a bottle opener, a wire stripper, a small blade (Xcto type), and a pry bar (made up of the 2 flat head screwdrivers). It is best if this tool can quickly unhook from your keychain to use the small blade. It isn't an atwood, but it is close.
Excellent tool! September 5, 2008 RodR (Pacific Northwest) Gerber 22-41770 Artifact Pocket Keychain Tool The Gerber Artifact provides a convenient, replaceable razor sharp blade in your pocket at all times. While the screwdriver features are not the greatest, they do provide a workable tool when you don't have a toolbox handy. Not sure about the prybar feature, but it will probably be useful for extracting nails from the walls the next time I move. And, when moving, I am sure the bottle opener will come in very handy... =)
